A Zany Paradox
A Zany Paradox is a project based on the concept of bringing the contrasting visuals, cuteness and violence, into the same space, and showing that such concurrence can be amusing, extreme, or ridiculous.
Area of focus
While many examples in media typically feature animals, this project places a stronger focus on human characters. By applying elements of baby schema alongside exaggerated violence, the works aim to highlight this contrast in a more human-centred context. Animals may still appear in some pieces, but the primary attention will be on the use of human forms to explore this visual paradox.
Solution
This project draws inspiration from the contrasting visuals often seen in popular animated cartoons such as Tom and Jerry, Happy Tree Friends, and Looney Tunes, where cuteness and violence coexist in exaggerated and humorous ways. It explores this paradox by presenting a collection of works that combine these opposing themes through different physical forms and mediums, showing how the cute and the violent can interact in unexpected and striking ways.
